Quick answer: What a glass partition costs in Dubai and the UAE: framed vs frameless, glass thickness, single vs double glazing, doors, frosting and installation.

Glass partitions are the standard way to divide offices in Dubai. They create meeting rooms and cabins while keeping the space bright and open, and they install far faster than block or gypsum walls. Prices depend on the system, the glass and the doors, so two quotes for the same office can look very different. This guide explains how glass partition prices work so you can compare them properly.

How Glass Partitions Are Priced

Glass partitions are usually quoted per square metre or square foot of partition, with doors priced per piece. Some suppliers quote a lump sum for the whole office. Check whether the rate includes the frame, glass, doors, hardware, frosting film and installation, or only the glass.

The Things That Decide the Price

1. Partition System

System Description Relative cost
Framed (aluminium) Glass held in aluminium profiles on all sides Lowest
Semi-frameless Slim top and bottom channels, butt-jointed glass Medium
Frameless Glass fixed in floor and ceiling channels with clear joints Higher
Double-glazed acoustic Two panes with an air gap, often with blinds inside Highest

2. Glass Type and Thickness

  • Tempered (toughened) glass is the standard for partitions because it is much stronger than normal glass and breaks into small pieces.
  • 10 mm and 12 mm are the most common thicknesses for frameless partitions. Thicker glass costs more but feels more solid and blocks more sound.
  • Laminated glass holds together if broken and reduces sound. It costs more than tempered glass.
  • Tinted, reflective or switchable smart glass costs considerably more.

3. Sound Insulation

Single glass is fine for open team areas. Meeting rooms, manager cabins and clinics often need laminated or double-glazed partitions with seals, which cost more but keep conversations private.

4. Doors and Hardware

Doors are priced separately and can be a large part of the total. Frameless glass doors with patch fittings and floor springs, sliding doors and aluminium-framed doors all differ in price. Locks, handles and soft-close fittings add more.

5. Frosting, Film and Branding

Frosted film bands give privacy and stop people walking into the glass. Full frosting, printed logos and decorative film add to the price but are cheaper than etched or sandblasted glass.

6. Height, Size and Site Conditions

Full-height partitions to a high ceiling need bigger, heavier panes and more labour. Uneven floors, ceilings with ducts, and night or weekend work in occupied buildings also increase the cost.

7. Approvals

Office fit-outs in Dubai often need approval from the building management, and sometimes from Dubai Municipality, Civil Defence or the free zone authority. Your contractor should provide shop drawings for the submission.

Many offices combine both: glass on the corridor side and gypsum between rooms.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a glass partition priced in Dubai?

Usually per square metre or square foot of partition, with doors priced per piece. The system, glass type and thickness, doors and hardware, frosting, ceiling height and site conditions decide the rate.

What glass thickness is used for office partitions?

Tempered glass of 10 mm or 12 mm is most common for frameless office partitions. Laminated or double glazing is used where sound insulation matters.

Is a frameless glass partition more expensive?

Yes. Frameless partitions cost more than aluminium-framed ones because they use thicker glass and precise channels and fittings, but they give a cleaner, more open look.

Do glass partitions block sound?

Single glass blocks some sound. For meeting rooms and cabins, laminated or double-glazed partitions with proper seals give much better privacy.

Do I need approval for glass partitions in a Dubai office?

Usually you need approval from the building management, and sometimes from the municipality, Civil Defence or the free zone authority. Shop drawings are needed for the submission.
